Penísula de Maraú and Taipus de Fora
Inserted into the protected area of Marau Peninsula, this wildlife sanctuary reveals a variety of coastal ecosystems, with more than 40 km of almost deserted beaches, located between Morro de São Paulo and Itacaré.
From the belvedere in uptown Marau, opens up a beautiful view of the Maraú estuary and the lower city, including the broad area of fair and dock. The beauty of the city conquered the French writer and aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupery, author of “” The Little Prince “,” which came to maintain residence in the village. The importance of Maraú in past centuries is revealed today in buildings of ancient architecture, in Portuguese style of the eighteenth century.
The beach Taipu de Fora, elected as the sixth most beautiful beach in Brazil by Guia Quatro Rodas, is famous for its natural pool of almost half a kilometer long.
Barra Grande is the largest village of the peninsula and still preserves the simplicity despite harboring major hotels, bars and restaurants in the area.
In almost all the beaches there are inns with 4×4 vehicles, boats, catamarans and good service, organizing tours for the whole region.
